Gene names: LARS , KIAA1352
Protein names and data: SYLC_HUMAN , Leucine--tRNA ligase, cytoplasmic; 6.1.1.4 , Leucyl-tRNA synthetase; LeuRS Lenght: 1176 a.a.
Mass: 134466 Da
fasta formatted sequence

Function: Catalyzes the specific attachment of an amino acid to its cognate tRNA in a two step reaction: the amino acid (AA) is first activated by ATP to form AA-AMP and then transferred to the acceptor end of the tRNA. Exhibits a post-transfer editing activity to hydrolyze mischarged tRNAs.
Catalytic activity: ATP + L-leucine + tRNA(Leu) = AMP + diphosphate + L-leucyl-tRNA(Leu).
Cellular location: Cytoplasm (By similarity).
